The test analyzes patterns in a person's DNA, which are caused by methylation, a biological process that expresses certain genes while others are not. Different configurations of methylation patterns are characteristic of different types of cancer, similar to fingerprints. The Galleri test is intended for clinical use and is available by prescription only. A healthcare provider must order the test, which can be requested through them or online through an independent telemedicine provider.
